The Westerly Medway 36 is a robust and seaworthy cruising yacht designed by the prolific Laurent Giles. The Medway was built to provide better sailing performance than its centre-cockpit siblings while maintaining the sturdy GRP construction and high interior volume that Westerly boats were famous for.
This example has a modern engine and was renovated in 2020: new rigging, new fuel tank, new wiring, new sea-cocks.

Rig: Ketch rigged but has only ever been used as sloop (Mizzen mast and boom are available)
Berths : 6 (Double V berth forward, 2 berths in saloon . 2 quarter-berths)
Engine:
Mistubishi K4F 40HP diesel engine fitted new by Drinkwaard Holland in 2003.Engine reconditioned in 2020. 300 hours on the engine since reconditioning. New PSS dripless shaft seal fitted 2020. New diesel tank (120 Litre) fitted 2020.
Rig:
Forestay replaced 2020 .Backstay and upper shrouds replaced 2022. Lower shrouds inspected annually. Facnor roller-furler rebuilt (new bearings) 2020.
Sails:
New Main sail made by Precision sails 2023 (batten-less). Fully battened mainsail in good/fair condition. Headsail on furler in fair condition. Assymetric spinnaker with snuffer in fair condition
Instrumentation:
Raymarine VHF at chart table with mast mounted antenna. NASA marine wind speed/direction. NASA Marine depth sounder.
Electrics:
All wiring and switchgear replaced 2020. 2 of 100 Amp hour AGM leisure batteries fitted.2020 . 2 of 100W solar panels and Victron MPPT controller fitted 2025 .
Plumbing:
All thru hulls and seacocks replaced 2020 (Italian bronze). Existing stainless water tank (150 litre) refurbished and inspection hatches added. All piping replaced. New foot pump for fresh water and saltwater to sink 2020.
Hull :
2020. Minor damage repaired and hull re-faired as required in and coated with epoxy barrier coat (West System). Copper-coat applied over barrier coat.
Anchor:
45m of 8mm chain and 15m of 19mm rode. New anchor windlass fitted 2020.
Fridge:
12V isotherm fridge. Rebuilt 2020 with 75mm PIR insulation and double sealed lid.
Stove:
