A Junk is a traditional Chinese boat that has a flat bottom and wooden hull. It is believed that these boats originated in the 12th century CE during the Song Dynasty. They were used to transport goods along coastal waters between China and Southeast Asia. In modern times, these boats have been modernized to more efficient motorized designs, which still retain the look and feel of the traditional design. They are much more spacious and comfortable than the smaller, more traditional sailing vessels they were based on and are generally used for recreational or tourist-related travel today.
