History of Jouet

Jouet is a celebrated French yacht manufacturer renowned for its long-standing tradition in boat building. The company was established in 1948 in Les Sables-d'Olonne, a well-known seaside town on the west coast of France. Expertly blending traditional craftsmanship with innovation, Jouet gained reputation in the maritime industry for its high-quality, highly seafaring, and dependable vessels.

During the 1950s and 1960s, the company flourished, creating an impressive lineup of sailing yachts. Their designs were marked by a balance between comfort and performance, a trait that made Jouet stand out. The Jouet 22, Jouet 760, Jouet 920 and, notably, the Jouet 37 are some of the famous creations that made a significant impact in the boating industry. Even though these models are no longer in production, they are still praised by enthusiasts for their robust build and great sailing characteristics.

Unfortunately, Jouet suspended its activity in 1982 due to the general decline of the shipbuilding industry. However, the brand's enduring legacy is present in the boats that continue to sail the seas and the many boating enthusiasts who still admire the company's excellent craftsmanship and performance-tailoring ethos. While no longer producing new boats, Jouet remains a treasured name in boating history, with its vessels often sought after in the second-hand market, a testament to their enduring quality and appeal.
