The Highfield Patrol 860 is a commercially capable RIB (MCA CAT4/3R coded) engineered for passenger transport and offshore performance. This vessel is powered by a Honda BF250 outboard engine, delivering 250hp via Honda’s 3.6L V6 platform — a naturally aspirated, fuel-injected unit known for its torque output, smooth power delivery and long-term reliability in commercial applications. With 1200 engine hours recorded, the engine reflects operational use consistent with passenger service rather than heavy-duty construction or utility work.
With an overall length of 8.60 metres (28’2”), the Patrol 860 benefits from an extended waterline and deep-V aluminium hull configuration, providing enhanced directional stability, improved wave penetration and predictable handling in varied sea states. The hull geometry is designed to balance load-carrying capability with efficient planing performance.
The vessel is rated to carry up to 12 passengers, with a deck layout configured for safe movement and weight distribution. The beam and tube diameter contribute to high reserve buoyancy and lateral stability at rest and underway — critical for commercial passenger operations.
Construction features a high-tensile, chromated and powder-coated marine-grade aluminium hull. Compared to GRP alternatives, this reduces overall hull weight while maintaining structural integrity and impact resistance. The aluminium build also offers long-term durability benefits, particularly in commercial environments where docking, beaching or frequent loading may occur.
A fabricated aluminium T-top/roof structure is fitted, providing structural rigidity and overhead protection. This is complemented by canvas drop-down side enclosures, creating a semi-enclosed helm and passenger area. This configuration enhances operational flexibility in exposed or changeable weather conditions.
Fuel is supplied via an integrated 430-litre under-deck fuel tank, supporting extended range and improved weight distribution through a lower centre of gravity. The self-draining deck design ensures rapid water evacuation, increasing onboard safety.
