Founded in 1962, Grampian Marine Limited is a renowned manufacturer of fibreglass sailing boats. The company is named after the Grampian mountains in Scotland, their birthplace, representing the durability and versatility that Grampian boats would come to be known for. The company was started by crafters with vast experience in building strong, reliable sea-going craft. Initially, their production premises was located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, where they were proficient in making a range of models including the Grampian 26, 30, 34 and the 2-34.
Grampian Marine Limited set a precedence in the sailboat industry with their outstanding design, construction, strength and the unique capability of the Grampian boats to hold up exceptionally well under rigorous use. One of their most popular models, the Grampian 26, was manufactured from 1967 to 1977, with over 1000 units produced during this period. This model became popular due to its strength, comfort and good sailing qualities, combining both heavy weather and light air capability.
In 1977, Grampian Marine Limited ceased its operations but the legacy and reputation of its boats persist. Today, Grampian boats can be found in harbours across North America, still sailing and being enjoyed by many. Although the company no longer manufactures boats, Grampian boat owners continue to appreciate the structural quality, design and well-balanced sailing characteristics of these classic cruisers. It is worth noting that an active Grampian owners group exists today which shares information and continues the tradition of these exceptional sailboats.
