History of Freeman Boats

Freeman Cruisers originated in the United Kingdom during the mid-20th century and rapidly emerged as an industry leader, renowned for their sophisticated design and superior performance. Established in 1956 by John Freeman, the company's first manufacturing base was set up in the town of Hinckley in Leicestershire. Starting with small open fishing boats, Freeman progressively moved towards cabin cruisers, eventually creating more than 16 models that stood the test of time and remained popular with enthusiasts across the globe.

In the late 1980s, the Freeman Cruisers production in Hinckley was halted due to economic issues. Nonetheless, the brand remained, and its customer base and fan following stayed steadfast. The company's reputation and popularity for producing durable and reliable boats, coupled with their classic designs, sparked the formation of a devoted 'Freeman Owners Club'.

Presently, Freeman Cruisers is based in Bordon, Hampshire under the management of Mark and Karen at Sheridan Marine. While the company no longer manufactures new boats, they specialise in providing genuine Freeman parts, ensuring the preservation and maintenance of the classic Freeman vessels in circulation. With over 6,000 Freemans made and many still in active use today, Freeman Cruisers continues to hold an undeniable legacy in the world of boating.
