Marketing Description

Boden is a beautifully restored classic Gunter-rigged canoe yawl, believed to be a variant and inspired version of Design No. 40 by the renowned yacht designer Albert Strange, whose canoe-yawls were celebrated for their elegance, seaworthiness, and balanced sailing qualities. The original design, Otter, dates from 1898, and Boden is thought to be a later interpretation of this design, likely built in the 1930s by Samuel Bond boatyard in Rock Ferry (Wirral). Between 2009 and 2019, Boden underwent an extensive and sympathetic restoration carried out by North Wales boatbuilder and enthusiast David Satterthwaite and again in 2020 with Scott Metcalfe (Bangor) where the masts and running rigging were replaced, and a new cockpit and cabin top were installed . The result is a striking example of a traditional small sailing yacht, combining historic character with meticulous craftsmanship. Lying ashore at Conwy Marina boatyard.
