Construction
Moody Carbineer 46 built by A H Moody & Sons Ltd in 1979 to a Laurent Giles design. White painted GRP hull and superstructure with teak decks. Long fin keel with encapsulated lead ballast. Wheel steering to skeg hung rudder. Self draining cockpit.
Only 32 Carbineer's were ever built showcasing the design and build quality Moody are famous for. Narooma is the last of the later 46 versions with the extended stern to create a more spacious aft cabin with greatly improved headroom.
Owners Comments
I purchased Narooma in 2011 after a full, out of water survey by Chris Moody. At the time, there were some signs of osmotic blistering below the waterline but this did not concern Chris Moody or Myself and it has been monitored each year and is no worse now, than it was then. Also, with the hull being 34mm think at the point of the Bow Thruster, the hull is solid. The rigging, whilst over 10 years old, has been checked each year & in 2022, at the request of my Insurance Company, I had a 10 year, out of water survey completed which is available to interested parties. In addition, a library of instruction manuals and original drawings will be handed over upon sale.
