NA MARA, the last produced of the rare Barbican 35 series, is an extensively equipped long distance cruiser ideal for bluewater aspirations. This heavy displacement, full length keeled sailing yacht was designed by Holman and Pye as a development of the Super Sovereign Ketch and fitted out by her original owners over a three year period. Boasting a Vetus 414, 33hp, Marine Diesel and an extensive sail wardrobe, and with her underwater hull epoxy coated from new, NA MARA has proven her reliability and seaworthiness in an Atlantic hurricane storm. About this Barbican 35

In production for only 12 months before the moulds were lost in a fire the Barbican 35 is a rare find, only seven being produced before the disaster. Designed by Holman and Pye the Barbican 35 is a development of the earlier Super Sovereign Ketch. With a re-worked interior, taller rig and full GRP construction reviews of the time were very complimentary. With her heavy displacement and long keel the boat offers great potential as a long distance cruising yacht.

NA MARA is the last known example of the Barbican 35 to be launched. Purchased by her original owners in kit form she was fitted out over a 3 year period, specifically to fulfil their bluewater aspirations. During her first ownership she cruised extensively venturing as far south as the Azores in the Atlantic and as far north as Norway proving herself to be a reliable cruiser, even during a Hurricane force storm in the mid-Atlantic.
