The Whitby 42, designed by the well renowned Ted Brewer, is a heavy displacement, full-keeled cruising boat. She has a good-sized centre cockpit and is comfortable, seaworthy, and forgiving even for a novice sailor. English Rose is incredibly spacious and airy below decks with generous sleeping cabins and two heads. The current sellers have owned her for 14 years.
Accommodation
Accommodations include 6 berths in 2 cabins. There is full 6'3" standing headroom and excellent ventilation throughout. Forward is a large V-berth with centre cut out. There is a forward electric head and washbasin. In the saloon, a U-shaped settee dinette arrangement to port is offset by two arm chairs on starboard side. A U-shaped galley is aft to port with three burner oven hob & grill, fridge and freezer, double stainless steel sinks with pressurised water. The walk-through with handy workbench outboard leads to aft master cabin with a full-width bed and en-suite head and companionway to cockpit. Mostly LED lighting and 4 x 12v Caframo fans throughout.
Mechanical Systems
Located centrally aft of the saloon, under the cockpit, is the extremely accessible Vetus M4.17, 42hp diesel engine. Engine new in 2004. Engine Hrs: 2570. Last serviced by owner June 2022. Technodrive TMC 60M transmission driving a three blade fixed propeller with drip-less shaft seal.

Construction
Built in 1979 by Whitby Boat Works, Whitby, Ontario, Canada; English Rose has a one piece GRP laminated hull, moulded non-skid painted decks. The topsides are burgundy.
Registration
English Rose is registered with the USCG and there are no known outstanding encumbrances.
