Any safety equipment such as life raft's, Epirb's, fire extinguishers and flares etc. are usually personal to the current owner(s) and if being left on-board as part of the sale of a used vessel may require routine servicing, replacement, or changing to meet a new owner’s specific needs.
The Westerly 33 was the bigger, beamier and heavier successor to the long-running Longbow and Renown range and whilst also designed by Laurent Giles, and retaining the distinctive bow knuckle, has a more elegant coachroof and substantially more space, plus a much better standard of interior finish than the older models, with lots of solid wood trim.
The Westerly 33 was introduced in 1977, and over 200 were built before it was replaced by the very similar Discus in 1980, which used the same hull moulding, and continued in production until 1984. Yachting Monthly has described them as ... substantial, safe and comfortable sea boats, popular with families for extended cruising.
Traigh Iar, was built and commissioned by Westerly Yachts (UK) in 1978.
