OWNERS COMMENTS:

The vendor has owned SOBEK for one year and she had three previous owners.

SOBEK started life as ELF and was used for a few years before being sold in 1999. She was a rather sad example of the type (survey available). She spent 2000-2017 in refit before being sold again and moved from Greenwich to Devon. The new owner completed the works and finally got her into the water and she spent two summers and a winter afloat before coming ashore again for winter 2019/2020. Covid hit and the boat stayed

ashore 2020-2021. The owner’s situation then changed and they found themselves in a position to be able to buy their dream aluminium expedition yacht. They sold SOBEK to us, the current owners, and we have sailed her locally around the southwest.

Although old, SOBEK has had little use. She underwent a huge internal refit from 2000 and much of the interior is new including a new engine, all new through hulls and associated pipework. Most of the wiring is marine grade and only a few years old. Much of the running rigging has been replaced this winter 2022.

We bought SOBEK with every intention of keeping her for a good number of years and we were very pleased to be able to buy her. We have realised that despite being ex-professional sailors, a power boat better suits what we want to do next (waterways of Europe) and we have found ourselves, unexpectedly, in a position to be able to make the change much sooner than we thought.

Prior to buying SOBEK we were looking at traditional good boats like Nicholsons and Contessas. A friend then recommended we look at deck saloons and we couldn’t go back having experienced how bright and airy they are down below. Deck saloons really are worth a look. Having come from a teaching and racing background I have been really pleased with what SOBEK offers.
