About this Jeanneau 409

Boat Details

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 was specifically designed for 'Performance Cruising'. Designed by the well known french naval architect, Philippe Briand. She's an easy boat to single-hand or sail short handed with all sheeting running back to the twin helms. Her beamy hull coupled with a hard chine running aft from amidships provides form stability along with increased interior space.

The deck is moulded using the Prisma Injection moulding process producing a precise glass to resin ration ensuring light weight and rigidity. Both inside and out, all mouldings are finished with a smooth resin cover to ensure easy clean and maintenance. This is a more expensive process than hand lay up but saves on labour, weight and reduces harmful emissions by 90%. The keel is cast iron.

The deck layout is that of a boat fit for multiple functions, be it cruising, lying at anchor or entertaining. With all lines running aft through covered channels and all hatches being flush mounted she presents a clean and orderly look whether at dock or underway. Line storage lockers under the helm seats keeps the deck clear of the spaghetti that can be cumbersome to guests and troublesome when being a little sportive?

Harken deck gear is used for easy handling and the cockpit is open enough to handle the sailing crew or apres sailing lounging. A cockpit table serves as a focal point for entertaining and a bracing feature when sailing.
