About this Windy 35 Mistral

English

Highly specified and professionally maintained, low hours example of the acclaimed Norwegian-build Windy 35 Mistral. Offering class-leading performance, handling and economy with legendary build quality. A very special motor yacht.

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

Constructed by Windy Boats in Scandinavia, the Windy 35 Mistral is a family sports cruiser, perfect for two couples and benefitted from a huge and well-protected cockpit. With performance potential of over 35 knots thanks to her twin 260hp Volvos, she also offers economic and comfortable cruising in the mid-20’s.

In her current English ownership since 2012, with just one owner prior, LASTINKS has been professionally maintained and stored ashore under cover when not in use. Launched for just a few weeks of every year and used only for day trips, LASTLINKS is almost completely unused below decks with an unused galley, barely used heads (less than 10x) and barely used sleeping cabins (less than 5x).

Her specification highlights include:

• ‘Windy’ dark blue topsides.

• Twin Volvo Penta KAD44 DP EDC 260hp engine option on outdrives with low hours run

• Increased fuel capacity of 900 litres with second fuel tank

• Bow thruster.

• Anchor windlass with chain counter.

• Teak cockpit and bathing platform.

• Extended bimini to forward and aft cockpit areas

• Comfortable 2-double berth interior layout.

• Cockpit table lowers to create a double berth.

• Sun bathing area to the foredeck.

• Raytheon chart plotter, speed, depth and autpilot

• Stereo system with speakers to the cockpit and saloon.

• Galley and cockpit fridges

• Diesel stove

• Full boat cover for storage ashore.

• Folding bathing ladder.

• Cockpit shower.

‘LASTINKS is EU VAT-paid and beautifully presented, ready to enjoy immediately.

PRESS REVIEW:

The first thing that greets you when you enter the cockpit of the Windy Mistral is the table. A wonderful, beautifully varnished, height adjustable, folding slab of teak. The Windy name, embossed uppermost upon the folding leaves, is a finishing touch that speaks volumes for the depth of detail and engineering that this boat possesses. From the semi-concealed stowage built in to the stem to the stainless steel bezels around the instruments, there is a sense that this is a high-quality craft. It was priced accordingly when new but today that premium has reduced to a more accessible level.

But it’s more than just quality, the design and layout speak of a manufacturer that takes boating seriously. A feature that highlights this perfectly is the way the helm seating has been arranged with a double benchseat for the crew, with a small gap big enough to walk through, followed by a single helm seat. This means that the helmsman is fully supported in a wraparound seat, and he can easily get out without having to dislodge everyone.

Evolved from the 36 Grand Mistral launched in 1995, the 35 Mistral began life in 1998, and a year later the larger sister, the 37 Grand Mistral, was born. Both boats were launched in hardtop and open-cockpit formats.

…A larger separate mid-cabin differentiates the 37 from the 35, which makes do with a transverse double opening directly onto the saloon. Further forward, the layouts are identical with an L-shaped dinette to port facing a well-equipped galley to starboard next to a reasonably sized toilet compartment. A separate master cabin lies forward with a double berth extending into the forepeak. The interior finish on our test boat mirrored the level of quality we found on deck – rich, luxurious veneers and sturdy fittings, completing the picture of subtle good taste.

…We pulled out of the berth in a stiff blowing-on breezr with the help of the 35’s twin DuoProp outdrives and a bowthruster to ease what could have been a tricky manoeuvre. Once out of the marina I built on a few revs and the easily drive hull surged forward across Poole Harbour.

The Mistral responds instantly, with the nose lifting and then dropping as the hull effortlessly gets onto the plane. At 20 knots I trim the nose up a touch and 30 knots is achieved with lore more than a hint of extra throttle. I power up astern before breaking left and cutting through the tail wash with a beautifully poised dive. The 35’s deep-vee hull lands softly…

…The Mistral handles brilliantly, never threatening to dig in or skip out no matter how hard the turn. If ever there was a boat built to be really used and enjoyed, this has to be it – it’s like a playful dolphin, totally at home on the water.

Practical, solid, high quality, capable, sensibly sized and above all fun. I’ve run out of boxes to tick.
