English

X-Yachts X342 Neils Jepperson design, fast offshore cruiser-racer, winner of the Channel Handicap overall in 1989 Round the Island Race. Always a delight to sail, goes on a whisper, yet very well balanced in heavy weather conditions. Long ownership, well maintained, hull epoxied from new then re-epoxied 2015, cruised every summer covering long distances from France to the Artic circle, wintered ashore annually. Good cruising inventory with a good sail wardrobe. Must be seen

OWNERS COMMENTS:

The vendor has owned ECSTASY for 32 years, from new.

The yacht was delivered with two layer epoxy below the waterline.

The hull was scraped and two epoxy layers applied professionally in 2015.

Raced with a fractional rig 1989-1993.

Lightly used 1994-2009.

Extensively cruised each summer from France to Baltic and Norway above Artic Circle.

Always laid up ashore when no in active use.

The engine has been professionally serviced each year.

For easier cruising converted to Masthead rig in 1997 by Jeremy Rogers, a Lymington boat builder.

The X342 was designed for either Fractional or Masthead rig so few alterations required.

“ECSTASY is being sold for personal reasons – nothing related to the condition of the boat. Would have continued sailing if I could!”

“Fast cruiser-racer. Always a delight to sail. Goes on a whisper. Won the Channel Handicap overall in 1989 Round the Island Race yet is superbly balanced in heavy weather. Safe cockpit.

Surfs readily even up to 16.5 knots. Averaged 7 knots on most long passages but easily averages 6 knots.

Engine lightly used because we could sail almost everywhere.

Little splash over the deck so we never found any need for a sprayhood.

Handles very easily under power, can turn in her own length. Prop has a left hand throw.”
