About this Sadler Yachts 26

English

Remarks :

"Serena" is a good example of the ever popular Sadler 26. The 26 was a natural progression from the 25 that had launched Martin Sadler as a builder and the world renowned Sadler Yachts Ltd. Built using techniques that were so innovative for the time the hull was classed and proven unsinkable and allowed 6 people to travel in comfort in a 26 foot yacht.
This particular model is a bilge keeler which can show most boats in her class a clean pair of heels. The added bonus of the bilge keels is the ability to dry out in some of our more remote harbours of our beautiful coastline.
Well maintained throughout her life, she has been lightly used. A reliable and economical, 13hp inboard Beta diesel installed in 2006. She comes with a decent inventory including chart plotter, DSC VHF, Speed/Depth/Log and GPS. She is comfortable below decks with convertible saloon, galley with oven and heads with marine toilet.

Accommodation :
Accommodations

Many small boats are described as "Tardis" like, but this 26 footer truly is. She can sleep 6 persons with a bit of jiggling to the furniture. There is a sizable double berth in forepeak, a single to starboard of the saloon, a large single/double to port of the saloon and a quarter berth aft.
Below decks also has good headroom and has a modern feel thanks to the light wood, and light coloured fabrics. There is a decent galley with a gas fuelled Flavel Vanessa oven with 2-burner hob and grill. Stainless steel sink with hand pumped fresh water and a top loading icebox/larder storage box.
Seating area to port with Vis a Vis style table and converts to a double berth. Large settee/berth to starboard and opposite galley a sizeable pilot/quarter berth. Above the quarter/pilot berth is a pull out chart table.
Forward of saloon and between the saloon bulkhead and the forepeak is the heads compartment with sea toilet. Opposite is a hanging locker. Both the entrance to the forward cabin and the entrance to the heads area have roll down canvas enclosures.
12V lighting throughout and opening deck hatch forward. 12V cigarette style sockets and additional USB style chargers. Original 12/240V Sadler panel. Battery charger and rotary isolator switch. 3-Pin sockets for use when attached to shore power.

Construction

GRP constructed yacht with white gelcoat topsides and Sadler red/blue cove line stripe
Teak rubrail at hull to deck join. Classed as unsinkable due to inner close cell foam insulation. This is the bilge keeled version which draws 1.10M. This is ideal for moorings that can dry out or for exploring the beautiful rivers and creeks of our varied coastline. Great access to the keel bolts.
Large, self draining cockpit. Teak grate underfoot for comfort. Cockpit has a sail locker to starboard. Dedicated draining and vented  gas locker to port. Transom and skeg mounted rudder with tiller steering. Tiller extension.
Large side decks allowing easy access forward.
Moulded non slip for safety. Anchor locker with lid and ground tackle. Stem head fitting with roller. Mooring cleats fore and aft. Stainless steel bathing ladder. Stainless steel bow and stern rails connected by stanchions and double set of uncoated guardwires.

Engines

Vessel powered by an inboard BETA B13 diesel engine. This was installed new in 2006 and offers both economy and reliability. The engine is situated beneath the companionway steps and allows good access for servicing and daily checks. Single lever engine control in cockpit with forward and reverse gearing. Reduction gearbox driving a stainless steel shaft and 2-bladed bronze propeller.
Engine start panel in companionway with key start and rev counter. Batteries fitted with rotary style isolator. Batteries recharged via engine alternator or on board battery charger. Shore power inlet with cable.

Sails & Rigging

Bermudan sloop rig with aluminium deck stepped aluminium spars. Stainless steel standing rigging and terylene running rigging, the majority of which is led aft to the cockpit. This makes this boat a joy to sail alone or with an inexperienced crew.
Mainsheet track with adjustable car situated at the companionway. Anderson self tailing genoa sheet winches and Lewmar halyard winches. Genoa sheet jammers.

Sail wardrobe includes a slab reefing mainsail with sailkote, roller furling headsail with UV strip and a spinnaker with pole and snuffer.
