About this Cornish Crabbers Shrimper 21

Cornish Crabbers Shrimper 21 -  completed 2019 (but only launched in July 2020), and merely trialled in Plymouth Sound once before being delivered into her berth here in Sutton Harbour Marina. Not used since!

If you fancy a fresh, new Shrimper 21 with immediate delivery 'Skylark' is the one.

Her discerning and exacting owner specified her inventory with utmost care to ensure she was as simple to handle as possible (due to his compromised physical health) and had custom made pulpit rails and and an electrically operated windlass (with remote control) fitted 'up forward', while the standard hull's bilge runners were extended, specifically to ensure that if on a drying mooring the vessel would remain upright and secure for uncompromised comfort onboard. A side benefit to these features is that this particular Shrimper may be transported on a flat-bedded trailer or truck too!

The toilet hasn't been used; the main cabin's cushions have only been sat upon briefly; the forward and cockpit cushions haven't been used. At last count, there had only been a little over four hours engine running.

'Skylark's underwater surfaces were 'Coppercoated' from the factory. In preparation for the 2021 season they would only require a scrub and you could be enjoying this popular, classically styled, weekender/creek explorer within days of setting eyes on her.

The balance of the boat's marina berthing (up to July 2021) could be available to a new owner if required and would provide a super base for exploring Plymouth Sound and the river Tamar estuary before moving to alternative future moorings.

The Shrimper 21's accommodation features more headroom throughout than in the original 19' version and four sleeping berths, with the same two primary berths in the main cabin, but additionally two berths in the for'peak, running over the marine-flushing 'heads'. The for'peak is provided with a degree of privacy and separation that was never possible in the earlier versions of the Shrimper by means of part bulkheads.

This particular Shrimper 21 also utilises the cockpit to its greatest possible extent by means of a custom made and removable cockpit canopy, combining with an adjustably mounted cockpit table for 'al'fresco' lounging and/or dining.

The for'peak is provided with an aft opening hatch over the toilet space; the toilet itself is unused (still covered by it's original protective wrapping) and is connected to the sea via a 28 litre holding tank, with electric discharge pump and deck evacuation point. There is a centreline-mounted LED light fitted overhead.

In the Main Cabin, galley facilities take the form of a two-burner gas-fired stove to starboard and a stainless steel sink to port of the accessway to the for'peak. There is provision for crockery stowage outboard of the sink, with a large storage locker beneath. A 'Tannoy'-style ventilator is fitted through the deck, directly above the cooker. An adjustable table may be mounted to the starboard side of the low centreplate housing for dining at, or for food preparation. Reading lights are of stylish chrome/stainless steel material and accommodate LED lamps.

A compact 12V DC distribution panel is located to starboard side aft of the main cabin, together with fuel and holding tank content gauges.

Manufacturer Provided Description

The Shrimper 21 is the most modern boat in the Cornish Crabber range, designed to enhance all the magic that the Shrimper series offers with a continued focus on the classic finish and build quality yet offering more space and some new features.

The lifting keel gives a shallow 1’10” draught making her ideal for both cruising and inshore exploring. Drying moorings are easily accessible keeping running costs to a minimum.

The rig is optimised to make the boat easy to prepare for launching using a clever pivoting bowsprit making mast lifting safe and easy. The very simple track & strap mainsail attachments streamline the rigging process.

Unusually for a boat of this size the standard boat features a Yanmar 9hp inboard diesel auxiliary engine. This sets her apart from the other trailer sailers on the market.

The self draining cockpit is well protected with high coamings and has room for up to 6 adults. Spacious cockpit lockers to port and starboard offer dedicated battery, water and gas storage. Teak inlays are a stylish option.

Below deck the accommodation is satisfyingly generous including a well-appointed galley with a double gas burner and fully plumbed sink. A full size double forward v-berth is easily accessible from the saloon with 2 full length settee berths extending under the cockpit. A sea toilet can be fitted as an option under the forward berth.

Every boat is built to order with exterior colours and interior layout finished to your liking. Top quality deck fittings, sails and boom cover come as standard.

  • Total sail area - 23.60
