About this Back Cove 29

"The idea is elegant in its simplicity: Build a pretty boat with classic lines, power it with a single diesel, put in a bowthruster to keep the handling easy (in fact, make everything on the boat easy), and they will come. Well, that's exactly what has happened with the..., eye-catching Back Cove 29 from North End Composites in Rockland, Maine." ~ Yachting      Tova was purchased earlier this season so that the current owners had a boat for the season. She is in very good overall shape and the survey from late June 2020 gives her high marks. This survey is available for interested buyers. Tova is a very nice example of this very popular model and will survey well.

Back Cove 29

"The style of the Down East lobster boat has been closely associated with Maine’s proud boat building heritage. The Back Cove 29 is an... example of everything that makes the Down East lobster boat a work of art. She has a traditional spoon bow and her transom is gently sloped: a style that will turn heads in any harbor she enters.

Below the surface she is modern and contemporary. A deep-vee hull with prop recess and standard trim tabs offers comfort and performance... With the optional 315 horsepower, 6 cylinder diesel engine, she reaches a top end of 29 knots and will cruise very comfortably in the mid 20’s. Around the docks, you will appreciate the maneuverability provided by her standard bow thruster.

The Back Cove 29 is practical and beautiful. She is a delight to drive and a joy to behold." ~  Back Cove 29 Brochure

Hull and Deck Structure

"The subject vessel is constructed of conventional fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). The hull is a partially cored reinforced fiberglass molding, hand laid up, using unidirectional fabrics with resin and stiffened with “glassed” in bulkheads, structural members, joinery flanges, and fittings. The deck structure is a single unit and was molded using layers of woven roving and mat in an unverified core construction. The deck structure is fitted with two (2) hatches, four (4) opening port-lights and molded non-skid surface in weather deck traffic areas." ~ Marine Survey from Theriault Marine Consulting, LLC dated June 25, 2020
