Callisto 40 REVEL LADY is in fantastic order. She boasts an ultimate all weather dog house which was also wonderfully ergonomically designed by her owner. With her sensible and practical rig setup, she can be sailed in all weathers with few hands.

Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC (Recreational Craft Directive) as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • 4mm steel hull, deck and superstructure.
  • 6mm keel sides, 12mm keel plate.
  • Blue painted hull with red style lines (2019).
  • White painted superstructure (2019).
  • Teak varnished toe rail.
  • Teak side decks and cockpit.

Insulation:

  • 2" thick throughout. This enables the interior to be kept considerably warmer in winter and cooler in summer. The insulation also helps keep condensation to a minimum.

Corrosion Protection:

  • Engine electrics (including starter motor) totally isolated from the steel hull to avoid galvanic corrosion.

Keel & Rudder:

  • Long encapsulated lead filled keel with supported rudder.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

  • 1 x Thorneycroft 150, 66hp.

Maintenance & Performance:

  • Last engine service: September 2020.
  • Cruising speed: approx 6 knots @ 2,100rpm.

Propulsion & Steering:

  • Deep seal fitted by Camper and Nicholson.
  • Shaft break to prevent the shaft from spinning when under sail.
  • Whitlock fitted quadrant over the rudder stock, controlled by wires running forward to the steering wheel. Serviced in 2018, reported to be in good condition.
  • Hydrovane wind-vane self-steering gear.
  • Vetus bow thruster, 3Kw. Cockpit controls replaced 2016.

Electrical Systems

Voltage Systems:

  • 12vDC domestic system and 240v ring main from shore power or generator.

Battery Banks:

  • 1 x 100Ah 12vDC engine start battery.
  • 2 x 200-235Ah 12vDC wet service batteries joined in parallel to supply 400-470Ah @ 12v.
  • 1 x 200Ah under forward berths servicing windlass and bow thruster.

Battery Charger/Inverter:

  • Victron battery charger (2019).

Alternator:

  • 12V engine alternator.

Generator:

  • Fisher Panda 4500 4.5kVA (2003).
  • Generator serviced September 2020 and has had light use.

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

  • High spec Rocamen Safety Immersion Heater.

Bilge Pumps:

  • 1 x High discharge electric pump (can be set to switch on by a float switch).
  • 2 x Manual bilge pumps, one operated from the galley and the other from the cockpit.

Black Water:

  • 1 x Stainless steel tank fitted under the saloon floor.
  • Emptied by an electric macerator pump (replaced in 2018) or a manual pump or sucked out from a deck fitting.

Tankage

Fuel:

  • Total capacity of approx. 205 litres (45 gallons).

Fresh water:

  • Total water capacity of approx. 1060 litres (233 gallons).
  • 1 x tank of approx. 241 litres (53 gallon) plus 2 x tanks of approx. 409 litre (90 gallon).
  • All tanks in stainless steel, 2 under the saloon floor and 1 under the engine.

Navigation Equipment

In cockpit/on deck:

  • Raymarine ST6002 SmartPilot.
  • Raymarine Depth, Wind & Speed.
  • Magnetic compass (suitable for a metal boat) – Attaches to the top of the instrument box forward of the wheel.

Accommodation

  • 7 berths in total. 4 berths in 2 cabins plus 3 berths in Saloon.
  • All wood is teak and teak faced Gaboon ply.
  • All hand built by Collingwood.
  • All cushions and covers replaced in 2018 with new.
  • Oceanair blinds to all 10 windows (port lights) - 3 either side in saloon, 1 either side in aft cabin and 2 in aft cabin stern.
  • Oceanair blinds plus mosquito nets to hatches in fore and aft cabin and blinds only to 2 hatches in saloon.
  • Deck light prisms for fore and aft heads.
  • Secret locker in aft cabin for valuables.

Description of layout from forward:

The accommodation is divided into 3 areas: fore and aft cabins, and saloon. The average-height person can move around the boat without restriction, even in the corridor between the saloon and the aft cabin.

The forecabin comprises a wash area with toilet, shower and wash basin plus cupboards and opposite a cupboard for hanging clothes. Forward is a double “V” bunk with storage underneath and shelves above. There is a hatch above with Oceanair blinds and fans above each bunk.

The saloon is a traditional design of a galley area and chart area aft, and dining area forward. The dining area includes a folding table with bottle storage and seating either side. The seating can be used as bunks with fixings for lee cloths. Above the port side seat is a pilot berth. Above the starboard seating is a TV cabinet and bookshelves.  In addition there are large storage areas beneath all 3 bunks and behind the starboard bunk. There are 6 portlights in the saloon area with Oceanair blinds and 2 hatches with Oceanair blinds. The galley houses cooker, fridge/freezer, wash basins together with cupboards and drawers for storage, plus a fan. The chart area houses a large chart table with seat and storage for charts etc, and panels for an array of instruments.

Between the aft cabin and the saloon is a corridor with a wet locker and a desk plus cupboards above and below for tools and maintenance work. Opposite are removable panels giving access to the engine and generator.

There is a full width double bunk in the aft cabin, with standing room and ensuite toilet, shower and wash basin. The double bunk has removable lee boards for sleeping on passage when the boat is heeled. There are 4 portlights with Oceanair blinds and a hatch with blind and mosquito screen. Above each bunk there is a low power fan to keep cool and free from flying insects. There are shelves either side and 2 cupboards, one with shelves and the other for hanging clothes. In addition, there are storage areas under the bunks with access to the Eberspacher and steering quadrant for maintenance purposes.

Deck Equipment

Rig:

  • The rig is by Kemp/Selden and as designed by Bill Dixon incorporates diamonds or jumpers at the upper spreaders, so runners are not required.
  • The sail configuration is cutter with the staysail mounted on a boom.
  • Single line reefing back to the cockpit onto a Lewmar electric winch.
  • 1 x Mast mounted spinnaker pole.

Winches:

  • 2 x Manual Lewmar winches on cockpit coaming.
  • 1 x Manual Lewmar winch on mast.
  • 1 x Electric Lewmar halyard winch.

Sails:

  • Yankee furling headsail.
  • Self-tacking staysail controlled from cockpit.
  • Single-line reefing mainsail.

General:

  • Fold-up teak cockpit table which stores on bulkhead of cockpit locker.

Anchoring & Mooring Equipment:

  • Lofrans Tigris windlass with a deck plug for the remote controller (2020).

Covers, Canvas & Cushions:

  • 3 x Cockpit cushions.
  • Canvas cockpit shelter with roll-up see-through back and side panels enabling use as a bimini under sail. The enclosure is supported by stainless steel tubing. The entire cockpit shelter, including the tubing, case be dismantled and is stored under the sea berth on the port side of the saloon.

Tender & Outboard:

  • 4 man Avon dinghy.
  •  4hp outboard.

Safety Emergency:

  • Plastimo 4 man offshore liferaft in a cannister.
  • Off shore flares (2016).
  • Fire extinguishers in forward cabin, saloon, aft cabin and engine compartment.
  • Deck safety strap port and starboard and clip-on point for harness in cockpit.
  • Large steel tiller with post that fits into rudder stock via a hole in the aft cabin roof for use if the wheel steering fails. This is stored under the saloon floorboards and has never been used!
