About this Hallberg-Rassy 45

English

GINNY is a Hallberg-Rassy 45 from 1990 and has hull number 18.

The Hallberg-Rassy 45 was built during 1988 - 1996. A total of 71 hulls were built. When the Hallberg-Rassy 45 was launched in 1988 it was a trendsetter. This was the first Hallberg-Rassy designed by Germán Frers. The Hallberg-Rassy 45 introduced an external lead keel, sturdy hull stiffener along and across the boat, between the floor and the keel, which reinforces the construction considerably. In addition it introduced a hull insulated with Divinycell foam core, which not only insulates from heat and cold, it also ensures an even firmer hull with a smooth inside, in contrast to the stringers of old days.

Accommodation

Fitted out in the traditional Hallberg-Rassy style.  The accommodation comprises six berths in three cabins, plus a further berth in the main saloon.  There are two separate heads compartments - one ensuite in the aft cabin.  Pressurised hot and cold water in both heads and galley. Most interior lighting upgraded to LED bulbs.

The interior is finished in hand-rubbed, silk finished mahogany throughout.  The floor is teak with inlaid holly stripes.  The upholstery is blue.  Beige curtains cover all windows.  All hatches with sky shades, mosquito screens and blackout blinds.  Both heads have separate shower compartments, porcelain hand basins, large mirror and teak grating.

There is ample storage, locker and drawer space throughout.  All locker doors are louvred, all bunk tops are drilled and mahogany slatting is laid just off the GRP to allow a constant flow of air through the boat in order to minimise the risk of condensation.  Each berth and the sofas in the main saloon have reading lights above them, and there are fans in every cabin.

Aft cabin:           one double and one single berth
Main saloon:      one single berth
Passage cabin:  one single berth
Forward cabin:   two single berths (V-shaped)

V berth cabin forward, with lockers around. Single berth in passage cabin (berth to starboard) with lee board.  Forward heads to port with manual toilet, holding tank and deck pump out.

Galley to starboard. Chart table to port with electric switch panel and a large hanging locker aft.  Access to engine.

Owner's Comments

We purchased Ginny in Mallorca in 2013 from the first owner who had kept the boat in Sweden for seven years before transporting her to the Balearics. The engine had only 800 hours at the time. During the time that we have owned Ginny we have constantly added to the equipment on board and upgraded her. We have sailed her extensively in the Mediterranean and twice over wintered in the Red Sea. She is a delight to sail, fast, well balanced  and powerful with perfect accommodation for two people and ample room for guests. We will be very sad to see Ginny go as she has been such a large part of our life over the past seventeen years.

The Hallberg-Rassy 45 was built between 1988 - 1996.  A total of 71 hulls were built.

When the HR 45 was launched in 1988 it was a trendsetter.  This was the first Hallberg-Rassy designed by Germán Frers.

The HR 45 combined all Hallberg-Rassy’s traditional hallmarks, like style, sturdiness, comfort, fine woodwork, thorough technical installations and an ample tank capacity with sailing characteristics unsurpassed for a sailing boat of this type.  The Hallberg-Rassy 45 claimed overall victory in the ARC over the Atlantic, in competition with a range of vessels from Whitbread boats and racers/cruisers to smaller family style boats.
