About this Souters 32ft 6" Sailing Yacht

Souters cold moulded 32'6" cruising yacht "Borne" for sale

Build around 1989 she is a 32'6", heavy, long keel cruising yacht, drawing approx. 1.8m and

weighing approx. 6.5tons. She is 5 layers of African mahogany above the waterline and 4 layers and a fiberglass sheath under. She is very heavily built and extremely strong.

The Pre-Owners has sailed her to the Canary Islands twice and once back against the flow in 2012, they sailed across the Atlantic and cruised the Caribbean, too.

I´m selling due to a recent injury on my Back I can no longer Sail. I am hoping that I can pass her on to someone who will use her to fulfil their dreams. She has been built for serious, long term cruising in any conditions and I hope that this is what she will be used for.

I haven’t had time to paint/antifoul her so the price will reflect this. She will need a week or so of work and then will be quite ready to sail across the Atlantic again this year! The work needed is superficial: She needs a good clean, the topsides need a coat of paint and the bottom needs cleaning and antifouling. The stuffing box was weeping and will need repacking.

The Pre-Owners spent over £70,000 on her over the years with receipts for much of the work, also they took her back to an empty hull and designed and fitted a custom interior perfect for a couple to go long term cruising.

All standing rigging replaced in 2011 with new bottle screws, high end sta-lok fittings and best quality wire. The rigging is tensioned by a screw type tensioner on the back stay.

Running rigging was new in 2011 and runs through oversized blocks to 8* large clutches on the

coach roof. There are 2* Meisner 21 winches for the halyards and the main winches are Harken 40,

2 speed self tailers.

All portlights are opening and seals were replaced in 2011.

The sails still have a lot of life in them. The genoa might need the UV strip replacing but the sail is good. I didn’t do any repairs on the main sails and I don´t think by the Pre-Owners either.

The engine is a Beta Marine 20hp fitted new via an R+D coupling to a new shaft with a new prop and R+D rope cutter. The fuel system is well thought out with twin filter/separators which can be individually isolated to allow the filters to be changed without stopping the engine.

There is a 50L stainless steel fuel tank.

There is one leisure battery (space for 2) and a dedicated cranking battery both of which can be isolated/switched separately. To monitor these, there is a NASA battery monitor and also a smart gauge. The alternator charges through a sterling advanced regulator. There is also a Rutland wind charger on a pole at the stern also charging through its own Rutland controller. There is a

comprehensive switch on board to control the electrics.

The instrumentation consists of Raymarine ST40 bidata and ST40 wind with repeaters inside the boat. The plotter is a Standard Horizon CP180 which is fitted in the cockpit. There is a Standard horizon GX1500E VHF radio inside with a remote station and mic in the cockpit.

The running lights are NASA LED mast top.

The boat has ample lighting throughout which is mostly LED with some halogen spots.

There is a Ocean Signal EPIRB which is still well in date.

In the main cabin there is a gorgeous brass Shatz clock (needs battery) and barometer and a paraffin lamp which is very nice when relaxing at anchor.

The Toilet is a new Blakes lavac and pumps through Taylors bronze seacocks. Cooker is Gas.

There is a large stainless steel sink with foot pumped water but also an electric pump that the Pre-

owners had fitted to a shower at the moment to allow u to shower in the cockpit. The front water tank is about 100L.

She has been very well rigged for shorthand/ single hand sailing. Everything runs back to the cockpit and all blocks, winches and clutches are high quality and oversized.

The cockpit and seating etc was replaced by Clarkes boatyard in Portland approx. 2009/10 to sort out some issues in the poorly fitted original.

The Equipment as I remember it is as follows:

It has a dedicated hot water system pressurized for shower in the head and all hot water taps. A diesel cabin heater with heating control.

Roller reefing - Selden Furlex 200S

There a twin anchor rollers in the bowsprit. The main anchor is a Delta 16kg. There is 50mm of 8mm grade 40high tensile calibrated chain. In a chain locker fed by a bronze chain pipe. There is also a 10kg Delta anchor as a back up.

A new and unused storm jib.

Steering is by tiller with a tiller lock fitted which helps when single handing. There is a simrad tiller

pilot.

6 large fenders and plenty of mooring ropes etc.
