BROKER'S COMMENTS
One of the finest products of the 1950s collaboration between revered French naval architect Eugène Cornu and the Jouët family's Chantiers Navals de Sartrouville yard on the Seine north west of Paris, FORBAN V has enjoyed long ownerships, and in recent years much passionate restoration. Sitting at the magic 50 feet size that seems to fit the seas while still being easily handled by a family, FORBAN V is particularly voluminous, offering three en-suite cabins and a wonderfully sheltered cockpit. Great comfort and safety combined with her renowned, powerful sailing qualities make FORBAN V an enticing opportunity.

HISTORY
Drawings held in the Jouët collection at the Musée de la Marine in Paris show that the original design commission was in 1953 from a Mr. Jordan, but she was laid down in 1954 and launched in February 1955 as FORBAN V for Yacht Club de France member J.G. Dollfus of Neuilly-Sur-Seine, France, possibly one of the leading fabric manufacturing family.
By June of 1955, moored at Antibes she was cover girl in the magazine Le Yacht. She subsequently moved west, berthed at Sète in the early 1960s and from 1966 at Hyères. Subsequent to 1979 she is known to have sailed in the Balearics and worked as a charter yacht from the Italian island of Elba.
In 1998 she was discovered in rather precarious condition by a group of enthusiasts who gave FORBAN V her first 1999 and 2000 restoration, with more recent work detailed elsewhere here completed under present ownership 2013-2014.
Back in commission from the summer of 2014, FORBAN V has participated in the Valdettaro Classic Boat regatta, and several times at the Mariperman and at Argentario Sailing Week trophy - always admired for her powerful lines.
