About this Sabre 34

"After 30 years, the Sabre 34 holds its hard-to-beat edge in comfort and class." Barbara Dawson - Cruising World July, 2008     New engine in 2010 with about 150 hours on it. Tempest is a nice example of the Sabre 34 MKI with the major improvement of a Yanmar engine that you can actually work around. Tempest has been regularly upgraded and well maintained.

Construction

The Hull is a single  unit hand laminated fiberglass molding using alternate layers of mat and roving with additional layers of fiberglass and balsa core in high stress areas.  The interior construction is of hand-crafted wood. Oiled burma teak is used on all visible surfaces except the head.  Varnished Mahogany is used under the berth cushions and in other concealed areas.  All trim, drawer fronts and locker doors are solid teak.  The cabin sole is striped teak.

The Deck is hand laminated fiberglass with balsa core  stiffening and non-skid deck surface molded in.  The toe-rails, hand-rails, coaming caps and trim are all  Burma Teak.  The Companionway hatch has a fiberglass spray hood for foul weather protection.  A foredeck  anchor well simplifies the handling of ground tackle.  Two large aluminum framed hatches with Lexan translucent panels provide light and ventilation in the forward and main cabins. The sliding main hatch is constructed of translucent Lexan, plastic with a teak frame.  The welded bow pulpit, stanchion posts, stern rails , two gates, plus upper and lower lifelines.
