This is a rare opportunity to acquire a true classic British sports cruiser, requiring refit.
When “Sabre Knight” first arrived at Preston Marina in 2006 she was is spectacular condition – befitting the heritage of the Fairey Marine name. In the autumn of 2006 she was lifted from the water, since when she has remained on the hard standing. Sadly, owing to work and other commitments, her owner has not been able to give “Sabre Knight” the continuous loving attention that classic boats demand and she has slipped into a state of neglect – so a new owner is sought to return her to her former condition.
“Sabre Knight” is a Fairey Hunstsman 31 Aft Cabin – Designed by Alan Barnard and built in 1977 by Fairey Marine, Hamble (Hull No.32) – and fitted out by Attrills of Bembridge on the Isle Of White.
Construction; Hull is of 8 laminations of hot moulded Agba mahogany. The superstructure is of marine ply. The decks are teak laid.
Length; 31 ft 3″ (9.52m) Beam; 9 ft 8″ (2.94m) Draught; 2 ft 10″ (0.86m). Displacement approx. 4.75 tons.
Machinery; 2 x 180 Ford Sabre turbo diesel engines. Engines last run in January 2019. Engine hour meter reads just over 300 hours. We have no reason to believe this is not an accurate record of the engine hours run – but nor are we able to confirm this. What we will say is that when we ran the engines in Jan 2019 after many years of being laid up, they sounded fantastic.

In order to assist with this sale description we did engage a marine surveyor to produce a basic condition report of the boat.
