Looking absolutely stunning in her contemporary Grey livery “Ammonite” is quite simply one of the finest examples of this 5th generation Oceanis 50 you’ll find anywhere!

Complete with Generator (2016), Water-maker (2016), Solar panels (2018) and a host of additional upgrades and improvements, she provides the perfect platform for your Mediterranean or Blue Water cruising experience. An extremely capable sailing yacht she really is ready to go anywhere!

Ammonite is the 3 cabin ‘owners’ version providing an extremely spacious, comfortable and capable yacht, that also sails beautifully! All 3 double cabins are fitted with slatted bases and the forward owners suite comes complete with an island bunk, plenty of storage and of course a fully fitted en-suite. Two additional aft cabins provide class leading space and headroom with the starboard aft cabin also being directly linked via a private door to the ‘shared’ aft electric heads and shower.

The galley provides an extremely comfortable and efficient platform for above or below deck entertaining and comes complete with a chest freezer, front opening fridge, S/S double sink, microwave and a gimballed hob and oven. Also included is the Nespresso coffee machine!

The saloon area, finished in Alpi Mahogany and matched perfectly to the very stylish Red Leather seating and sofas, is further complimented by the good sized table. A 32” Samsung TV (2018), Bose sound system, LED wall lights and a number of LED lighting options provide a layout which is extremely comfortable and spacious providing the perfect area for entertaining, or just chilling out on those slightly cooler or damper days! Please note the saloon and master Cabin are also carpeted throughout.

The “Nav Station” enjoys a dedicated seating area providing a central location for the control and monitoring of items such as the generator and batteries, the water-maker and water tank levels and fuel etc. Also of course providing easy access to one of the two Raymarine plotters, NavTex and ‘in-boat’ weather stations, VHF radios (both built-in and handheld), and control of the majority of the electrical systems on board. The desk space also provides a lift up desk lid for charts etc, and an assortment of drawers and ‘glory holes’ for those other necessary items.

Above deck you’ll find not only a stunning Teak deck, including the cockpit area, but also a MUCH improved and modified ‘solid tube’ push-pit and davit arrangement extending forward to the side gates. The cockpit area, complete with fold out tables and a large forward deck area provide the perfect combination of outdoor living space, ideal for just 'living', or entertaining. Of course when it’s time to break out the sails all controls and lines are fed aft to the cockpit area which combined with the sweeping arch provides for an extremely safe and efficient sail control environment. And, she sails beautifully!

About this Beneteau Oceanis 50

“Ammonite” is quite simply one of the finest examples of this 5th generation Oceanis 50 you’ll find, anywhere!

Looking absolutely stunning in her contemporary Grey livery she comes complete with a host of upgrades and extras designed to create the perfect platform for your Mediterranean, European or Blue Water cruising plans. Upgrades include a generator (2016), a water-maker (2016), and a solar panel system (2018), plus a host of additional modifications designed to further enhance her general usability and “go anywhere” capabilities.

Not only is she an extremely comfortable yacht to live with but she’s also easily handled by two people under sail, and complete with bow thruster she handles well even when faced with some of the trickier ‘Mediterranean’ style moorings!

Ammonite is the 3 cabin ‘owners’ version providing an extremely spacious and comfortable home for your chosen cruising area. All 3 double cabins are fitted with slatted bases and the forward owner’s suite comes complete with a double island bunk, a range of storage and hanging cupboards, and of course the en-suite. Two additional double aft cabins provide class leading space and headroom with the starboard aft cabin also being directly linked via a private door to the shared aft electric heads and shower.

The galley provides an extremely comfortable and efficient platform for above or below deck entertaining and comes complete with a chest freezer, front opening fridge, S/S double sink, microwave and a gimballed hob and oven. Also included is the Nespresso coffee machine!

The yachts interior is finished in Alpi Mahogany which is complimented by very stylish Red Leather seating and a separate sofa. The main seating area wraps around a delightful, and good sized dining table providing comfortable seating for eight including the ‘removable’ buffets (also finished in matching Red leather). A 32” Samsung TV (2018) provides for your TV entertainment whilst a Bose sound system, LED wall lights and a number of LED lighting options provide an environment which is both extremely comfortable and practical, and perfect for entertaining or just chilling out on those slightly cooler or damper days! The saloon and master Cabin are also carpeted throughout.

The “Nav Station” enjoys a dedicated seating area providing a central location for the control and monitoring of necessary functions such as the generator and batteries, water-maker and tank levels, including fuel etc. This area also provides easy access to one of the two Raymarine plotters (the 2nd plotter being in the cockpit), NavTex and ‘in-boat’ weather stations, VHF radios (both built-in and handheld), and switchgear for controlling the majority of the electrical systems on board. The desk also has a lift up lid providing plenty of space for your charts, pencils and manuals etc, and a range of additional drawers and ‘glory holes’ make for an extremely practical navigation station!

Outside “Ammonite” enjoys a contemporary and quite stunning Grey livery, further complimented by beautiful ‘natural’ teak decking extending into the cockpit.

Push pit:

A complete re-design and build of the push pit provides superb benefits and advantages;

- Solid tubular S/S frames replace the original wire guard rails extending forward to the port and stbd side gates. This method of construction provides an extremely solid and safe "cage" for the cockpit area, and provides plenty of solid tubing for any accessories that may require 'clamping'.

- The original aluminium stern cleats have also been replaced by much stronger and "beefed up" stainless steel stern cleats, complete with backing plates.

- The new solid tubular S/S framework now provides a far more 'usable' davit arrangement enabling the 2.9M tender (included) to be dropped and lifted easily, and potentially single handed! In addition, even when your tender is in the raised position it remains possible to walk under the tender and across the passerelle when moored up stern to!

- The same 'davit' framework also provides a strong and solid base for the solar panel system.

Twin wheels provide easy and comfortable viewing on both sides of the yacht, and also provide for unhindered access to the main cockpit area. A good sized folding table provides the perfect area for entertaining, whilst a nice sized forward deck provides an enviable location from which you can enjoy your evening sundowner! The perfect combination of practical outdoor living space for just living or entertaining, and of course when it’s time to break out the sails all controls and lines are fed aft to the cockpit which combined with the sweeping "feature" arch provides an extremely safe, efficient and easily managed sail control environment.

Currently utilising the ‘cruising’ option of in-mast mainsail Ammonite also carries in her armoury a full ‘vertically’ battened mainsail, which complete with a ‘positive’ cut roach provides even more power under sail. And with many of the lines, sheets and halyards having been upgraded to cruising Dyneema a great sailing experience is assured.

Engine, Electrical & Water

Engine:

The turbocharged Yanmar 4JH4TE 76hp engine supplies it's power via the sail drive unit to the folding MaxProp feathering propeller. Annually serviced and regularly maintained by the current owner the engine had a major service in 2016, including a replacement Sail drive diaphragm.

Hull - regularly antifouled on an annual basis.

Sailing & sailing inventory

For a 50ft/15M yacht "Ammonite" can easily be sailed by two people, as she has been for the last three years!

The furling Kemp headsail provides not only a powerful drive option, but has been set up to enable easy reefing via the Pro Furl reefing gear, irrespective of which tack you're on.

A fractional mast enables further trim options via the adjustable backstay (winch handle operated), and the Kemp mainsail (2015) option currently in use allows for very easy reefing via the in-mast furler, either by hand or by using the two speed electric coach roof winch.

Note: If speed or racing is your thing then Ammonite also carries on board an additional Kemp mainsail providing a fully vertically battened option. The battens allow for a larger sail area via a positive cut roach, and if the extra power is needed then you won't be lacking with this option!

Also carried on board is a Halsey cruising chute with halyards and lines to suit.

Winches: 2 x Harken 46 self tailing (port side electric), & 2 x Harken 601 self tailing winches. Serviced regularly by the current owner, an experienced RTW sailor!
