You will find this Rhodes classic ocean racer astonishing. This legendary yacht has its origin on the Nevins yard in New York where it left the yard in 1938. After a limited number of owners, among whom several famous personalities, the yacht found her way to the Netherlands in 2002 where she underwent a major refit or rather where she was rebuild. Almost 60% of he strakes of the underwater-ship was renewed, new piping and tanks, electrical system and equipment, hydraulic steering-system and much more. Above this all a complete new interior was designed and installed. This extensive overhaul was finished in 2006. After her re-launch her successful career as a ocean racer continued and over the years she underwent more renewals. Mast and most of the rig is replaced in 2015, the Garmin navigational instruments are brought up to date, the batteries are new and the hull is freshly painted in 2017. Although the yacht is designed for competitive racing she is remarkable comfortable to live on and easy to sail. Deck equipment as winches blocks and jammers are state of the art. The re-designed interior does the character of the classic yacht right but is still comfortable and well equipped. The galley carries a fridge, oven with ceramic cooking and
a micro wave. The salon, with its comfortable elegant setup with two large sofas in brown leather, breaths a
sophisticated warm nautical atmosphere.
The rich history of this famous yacht, the owners, the many successes, the voyages of which books are written, its all
much more than will fit on this page.

Philip Rhodes was one of the most versatile of American yacht designers in 1962 it was one of his designs; WEATHERLEY that successfully defended the America's Cup against the Australian debutante GRETEL. Later Richard Henderson, Rhodess biographer was to say Whatever kind of vessel he produced, it invariably had the look of rightness about it. His sailing yachts in particular, with their beautifully proportioned hulls and graceful sheer lines, are works of true design harmony.... Rhodes will be
remembered best for these distinguished thoroughbred yachts. They are not only superbly functional, but they also have an elegance and ageless beauty that is all too rare in yacht design today. Fast but easy handling, even under severe conditions, CARIBBEE now rebuilt has a classic contemporary interior providing some comfort with technology, along with some of the elements of her rich history. The lifting keel, which figures in many of Rhodess designs, ensures performance yet easy access to all ports and anchorages.

HISTORY
Originally ALONDRA and rigged as a yawl this yacht subsequently became better known under the ownership of Carleton Mitchell as CARIBBEE and it was with him she won the SORC in 1950, 1952 and 1953 - and the RORC Transatlantic Race in 1952. Such experiences including extensive cruising both in American and Scandinavian waters that prompted Mitchell to observe I believe I may objectively say no boat of her size and type during a similar period has given more service or pleasure to her owner . . . ".
