Yacht Club Cala d’Or, one of the Mediterranean’s finest private members’ clubs and located on the south coast of Majorca, is set to host a special presentation at the Barcelona Boat Show for its members and guests from the UK and around the world.
The Yacht Club Cala d’Or is sponsoring Majorca’s Toni Manresa in the XXVIII edition of the world famous Dakar Rally, which will take place from December 31, 2005, to January 15, 2006. The club hosted a special reception to present Toni Manresa and his co-pilot Xicu Ferrer with their Nissan 4 x 4 on Saturday, August 13.

Tollesbury Cruising Club was founded in 1970 by the Goldie and Waterhouse families, the builders of the Marina and by several local yachtsmen.
This morning at the 0800 UTC position update, A. Robert Towbin’s 94-foot (28.7m) Fife ketch Sumurun, built in 1914, was still tackling the Atlantic Ocean with 543 miles to go to reach the finish line at the Needles Fairway Buoy off the western tip of the Isle of Wight. In terms of distance to the finish line, Sumurun was 50 miles ahead of Hans Albrecht’s 88-foot (26.8m) Nordwind, and 100 miles in front of Carlo Falcone’s 80-foot (24.4m) Fife yawl Mariella, the latter two boats originally built in 1938.
The opening of the
Yacht Club Cala d’Or in Mallorca proved to be a well-planned almost military exercise. Reporters and journalists were shipped from all over the world. TheYachtMarket was the only website invited to cover the opening. This magnificent club oozed with splendour and razzmatazz; a chic but relaxed meeting place in the Med.
From March 20th, the clubhouse will be available for visitors to enjoy a preview tour before our opening in April. We are busily adding the finishing touches, but there is already plenty to see, from the luxurious restaurant to the solarium suites. AYC beginnings were in 1883 as an informal canoe club. A building was constructed two years later on a pile of oyster shells at the foot of Duke of Gloucester Street, which, in 1886, became the club house for the formally organized Severn Boat Club. This oyster pile was rented from St. Marys Church and was next to a rickety wooden bridge across Spa Creek. In 1897 a new clubhouse was built and was enlarged in 1912
In 1933, the founders of Narrasketuck Yacht Club stated that the primary purpose of the club was the following: " To encourage its members in becoming proficient in the personal management, control and handling of their yacht, and promote socialbility and recreation among its members."
