Yacht Clubs Across The World Compete For Gertrude Cup In Cowes

Yacht Clubs from around the World are invited to compete for the Royal Thames Yacht Club's Gertrude Cup. Four days of fleet racing in the UK's premier sailing waters based in Cowes and the Solent, with a full on and off the water programme.

A Fleet of matched Etchells boats will be provided fully rigged, new matching sails and in the water by the Cowes International Etchells Fleet. The helm must be Corinthian, but there are no other crew restrictions.

The intention is to run a minimum of three races per day per team. Identical new sails bought 2014 (lightly used) will be provided and each crew sails a different hull each day to ensure fairness.

Declared weight limit per team is 285 kg (3 or 4 crew).

Accommodation in Cowes is easily available at yacht clubs and other venues.

The price per team is £3,900 including a registration and practice day followed by four days of racing in a fleet of Etchells, a gala dinner held at the Royal Yacht Squadron on Tuesday 2nd August 2016 and includes a full social programme.
