24 October 2011 – The World Yacht Racing Forum is pleased to announce the addition of Multi One Design as Gold Sponsor of the 4th edition of the Forum taking place from 13-14 December in Estoril, Portugal.
The brand new international offshore multihulls circuit is due to begin next year with a transatlantic regatta called Krys Ocean Race in July 2012, followed in September by a European Tour consisting of inshore and offshore races. The first round-the-world race is scheduled for 2013. Professional skippers Yann Guichard, Sidney Gavignet, Stève Ravussin, Sébastien Josse, Michel Desjoyeaux and Roland Jourdain have already committed to the Multi One Design program with six of the new one design trimarans already launched.
“We came to the World Yacht Racing Forum in 2009 in order to see what the event was about”, explains Marco Simeoni, President of MOD. “Last year in Estoril, we sponsored a lunch and introduced our project to the international yacht racing community. We are now fully operational, with teams, a circuit and a detailed program. Our goal is to become an international circuit and this is the reason we have decided to support the World Yacht Racing Forum as the ideal platform for us to promote this message.”
Multi One Design is also an eco-responsible sports concept that fights for the preservation of water, through a Foundation born in the wake of the Multi One Championship. The Multi One Attitude Foundation has the goal to raise awareness and take action around ocean preservation and water footprint reduction; the Foundation will be present in the heart of the race villages and is represented by an ambassador boat, the MOD70 no1 named Race for Water.
