Seafaring adventurer Glenn McConnell has raised over £7,000 with a charity kayak from Portpatrick to Bangor on Father’s Day 19 June 2011. Glenn and his brothers and sister have been raising money for Belfast Lough Sailabiity, who have recently been given the privilege of hosting the Irish sailing paralympic team during the lead up to the 2012 games. They are endeavouring to purchase a Hawk 21 to help with training young and old disability sailors. You can get more info at www.kayakchallenge.com.
The next event that the McConnell family are organising is the Black Tie Gala Ball at the Octagon Suite Kings Hall on Saturday 15 October 2011, to There will be some great auction items and it all kicks off at 7pm with a drink reception, followed by a four course dinner, charity auction, ballot and live music to dance to from the Dukes till 1am.
