Has anyone any idea how far you could get in a 505 on a good day starting early and finishin in the evening if I was to leave from cardiff heading to southend on sea, or how far can you get in a day?

Hi, this is a difficult question to answer because there are so many varables. First the strength of the wind which will dictate the speed of your 505. Also the direction of the wind. Your endurance to keep sailing hour after hour during daylight. So many things to consider.

Lets say you sail for 12 hours continually and on average you make 8 knots.
Then you will cover almost 100 miles (96 nautical miles). If we ignore the tide because of your type of boat, then you could base your plans on this figure.

Hope this helps.
