I am a new owner of a 1976 Westerly GK24 and I am trying to determine the value of the boat for insurance purpose. She is currently registered and moored in Maryland, US and I paid $2550 (1383 GBP) for her. Since this is all I paid, this is how much the insurance company will cover her for; I know it is worth much more than that!

I searched the US NADA guide but could not find this year and model. Is there a UK version of NADA or some sort of blue book or insurance manual that provides a range of values for boats that includes the Westerly GK24?

All help and suggestions are appreciated.

John

To my knowledge, there is no book for this type of boat to provide values.

Even one-design boats, built to the same specification can vary in condition, and therefore value, so producing a book like this would be near-impossible.

A yacht surveyor would be able to give his opinion as to the value of the boat, using his knowledge of similar boats that have been sold. You could also scour the boat adverts, looking for similar boats and build up an average price, which your Boat Insurance company may accept.
