Canoe Stern or not?

Canoe Stern or not?

Please can anyone help me out here? I have been looking at a Fisher 37. What are the benefits of this type of boat, if any, and its canoe stern? I was told that these back ends mean it is much more stable in high seas?

Can this really be true?

I think it has something to do with stability in a following sea.
Instead of waves smacking against a flat stern a canoe stern helps to break the wave thus giving you a smother ride.

Also the water line is to the stern rather that somewhere fore of the transom.
That is one of the most awesome offshore 37'ers around for 5 to ten reasons.

If I could I would never hesitate to purchase a sail boat such as this.
