Fitting new tacho/rev counter

I need to replace the tacho on my Picton. I know new ones can be set for 2, 4, 6, or 8 cylinder. Trouble is my o/b is a 3 cylinder Mariner (Mercury). Will a standard guage work OK or will I have to buy a special one? Any help would be apreciated!!!!

PS If anyone has a second hand tacho that would work, I'd be very interested!

Thanks

Howard
