Hot Air Gun or Paint stripper?

Hi,

We are just about to start a major project on our classic boat (unknown) and she is in need of a total back to wood strip.

We are tiring to be as environmentally friendly to the area (the boat yard and sea) as we possibly can but are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

In some places the hull is very lose and we dont want to set fire to it, but in other places the paint on the hull is so thick that we will need a jack hammer to get it off.

I have read somewhere that there is an environmentally friendly product that you simply paste on and all the paint come off in huge chunks is this true and is it environmentally made?

I just want to do my bit as most of my fellow boat enthusiasts seem to be as high as a kite when doing this kind of work at the boat yard. Although the intoxicating smell of a boat yard is like a magnet to some boat enthusiasts I would rather sip a nice G and T than kill so many brain cells!

Help!!!

Hot air guns can burn the wood and a power sander can create huge holes in the wood be very careful with these tools as they can create massive damage! Use sandpaper on delicate areas and only use a power sander if the area is going to be covered or not be seen.

neither they guy above is right holes and burns and #1 for wood - try paint stripper!
