The Moody 45 DS is like nothing you have seen before. This is the first Moody to be built by Hanse in Germany but is still Brit designed by long time Moody designer Bill Dixon with the interior designed by Mark Tucker of Design Unlimited.

The concept of the 45DS is one level living with the saloon on the same level as the cockpit, through a set of double doors you go straight into the saloon with no stairs. Down below is purely accommodation with no aft cabin, and the master cabin forward of the pilot house.

A cruising chute can be stored in the bow locker and launched through the deck meaning theres no need to take it through the saloon and along the decks.

The problem of keeping the anchor off the bow when launching it is solved by a bowsprit device that rotates out of the foredeck and releases the anchor a distance forward of the stem. "

Last month, we showed the new Moody on the boat show in Barcelona. The interest was impressive: people got upset because there was no space to enter the boat on weekends. Although, we had no time for seatrials (the yacht came straight from the yard), the mecanics told me it is a serious fast cruiser and easy to handle by one person. All details are immaculate with a lot of genial solutions all over the boat. We had to get used to the design first (it is breaking rules), but then got more and more convinced of the concept having a fast cruiser with the benefits of a real pilot house like on a catamaran.

re: certainly it is a great yacht. craftsmanship, storage area, layout, details and qualitiy of used materials is impressiv.

moody 45 GOOD got be joking the worst ever i have seen and as we in credit crunch they definitive got that as the built half a boat and i thought boats had a back end of it. did the person building it had the titanic plans

The comment by one subscriber is unfortunate as clearly this is a ground breaking design.The Moody DS45sails very well(test sailed it last week) and hasa huge amount of useful space . When you have finished sailing you can go straight into the saloon rather than ,"going below" and you have a fabulous view over the water and you can even helm the boat from inside the saloon. I think this is a truly great design for people who want a different approach to sailing but who still enjoy good on the water performance.
All being well I hope to trade in my Beneteau 46 for this Moody!!

bad mistake if did this we had 1 titanic disaster far im concerned it can join it. my late grandad and his father were boat builders of fareham and they would not be pleased with it
