Re: Trapper 300
I sail a Trapper 300, am a professional smallcraft surveyor and could be described as the coordinator of the Plymouth (UK) group of owners. We enjoy class racing on Thursday evenings and, hopefully in 2007, on Friday evenings too. The design offers a lot to anyone seeking a satisfying sailing performance, combined with reasonable headroom (realistically 5'9" in the main cabin, reducing as you go forward in the boat). The cockpit is generous by comparison with most 26' boats of the age. A comparable design to the Sadler 25, but with more headroom. Two alternative layouts available; the second one with a dedicated chart table and larger galley.

I have no experience of the Cantabrico Sea and wouldn't express an opinion.

Re: Trapper 300
I sailed a Trapper 300 for 10 years on the Clyde, It's an extremely seaworthy boat, although due to its fine stern tends to roll substantially when sailing downwind. I sailed the boat from the Clyde to Cork in gale conditions with no problems, although pretty miserable at the end of the trip, the boat was in perfect condition.

Wouldn't want to pay much over 9000 for one today

the website Trapper 300.org.uk is very informative with copies of original brochures and spec sheets from the builders. Where are you based? If saiiling in the South West of England, we want to talk to you! - there is a selection of T300's available through the Plymouth T300 group of owners. Ring me, James Green, on 07831 435682.

Amazing yachts...safe, fun and very stable. They plough through high-seas well. They are spacious and airy down below and have sleek, sporty lines. The best ever!

You can find the Trapper Owners Association website at www.trapperyachts.org.uk

Re: trapper 300
We are in Cornwall and have seen a T300 for sale. Is the T300 the one with the lead bulb keel that draws more water? If so is the straight 300 with the iron keel. We winter our boats in a safe creek and are limited with draft when berthing. We have sold our old classic boat and feel that the Trapper would suit us fine for the amount of cruising we do and may do a little club racing. Please if anyone can give us some advise on what we should realistically have to pay for one and any for sale at the moment
Many thanks. A retired couple but still have plenty of sailing and fun to go yet!
