convert control box

hi i just bought an unfinished project speedboat.it has a 50hp evinrude.my problem is that the control box for it is one for fitting on the left hand side of the boat i need a right hand. plus its old and not up to much.a good mercury right hand box also can with it. can i convert it so it takes the evinrude cables and wires?
