Cost of a all year berth in a mediterranean marina?

What is the yearly cost we should expect if we want to rent a berth for a 12-15 meter yacht in a Mediterranean marina. (With electricity and water supply)? Any suggestions were to stay. We are planning to use the boat more as an apartment, sharing between 4 1/4 shareholders.

I am replying on behalf of Triangle (Berth Brokers) Limited. We are full members of the British Marina Federation and the Yacht Harbour Association. We have been assisting boat owners to find the right berthing solution in the UK and across Europe for the past 19 years. An Agency specialising in Marina Berths in the Med, we can probably answer your question more usefully by putting a figure on it.

Palma de Mallorca appears to have topped the bill as possibly the most expensive place to keep a yacht - anywhere in the Med. if not the world!

Pay anything from 10,000 to 14,000 euros pa for a 50 footer. As most of the less expensive berths are privately owned by various club members there can be widely different asking prices. That's when you need a good agent!
But if you want to sell your boat, Palma is the real shop window on the Med!

Monaco is cheaper for Superyachts, marginally, if they ever have a vacancy.
Mainland Spain, north to south other than MAabella, has a plentiful supply of almost empty marinas now - at some 50 -60 cheaper than Palma.
Menorca - we have a selection at about 8.000 euros pa for a 50footer.
Croatia - about 50 per cent of Palma, no too many places with all the mod cons surrounding Brighton Marina for example.
Turkey - about 40 per cent of Palma, some lovely spots there now, with plenty of infrastructure to enjoy living there cheaply, too.
Italy - getting as pricey as Spain, the hot spots as pricey as Palma.
Greece - moderately priced, about 50-60 per cent of Palma.

For larger vessels and Superyachts I have 150 vacancies in mainland Spain where they can stay the whole winter for peanuts, by comparison to the Balearics and the French & Italian Rivieras.

Hi, we have not used social web sites before so apologies if our response is inapproproiate protocol! We are an independent British berth broking company of 19 years standing and offer berths to rent and to buy in the Mediterranean and UK. Our web site is www.triangleberthbrokers.com
We are seeing a movement of boats from the higher priced Western Med to Greece where we have good value berths to rent and buy. For a 15.5m in Gouvia Marina, Corfu the inc vat (19% in Greece) annual rent for 2010 is 8015 euros or a 14 year lease with sub-letting and transfer rights at 57,131.90 euros inc vat for a 15.0m berth. We never load the costs and our services are free to renters and buyers. Hope this is helpful but there are many other options on our web site.

Dear Sir, the estimated cost in Italy dpeands of marina and area. I can suggest you to stay in provincia Imepria. There are some new and very good equipted marinas: for example Marina dei Aregai, Marina di San Lorenzo. The cost for 14-15 m can be around 10.000 euro. It's a central pace so you can easily reach Cod d'Azur, Italian Riviera (Rapallo, Portofino), Corsica (70 miles to the south) and Tuscany. In Tuscany anuual fees for berth place is very close to that I told.
Cordiali saluti,
Gorazio

Hello,

As many people have said on this forum, berths available to rent can be extremely rare, particularly in the most demanded locations, such as the Balearics, the some parts of Sardinia, and most of all the South of France.

What I usually recommend to yacht owners who wish to discover the South of France and do not want to commit to a marina for more than a year, is to rent in the new marinas, recently built in Italy. The new marina in Genoa, Marina Genova Aeroporto, has now been open for 3 years and the 2nd phase of the construction has just been delivered. You can moor and rent there at the moment, for yachts any size from 10 m to 130 m. However you could expect long term mooring rentals to become more difficult to obtain in a few years time, as it happens in all marinas along Liguria and the Côte d'Azur. The cost of a 16 m x 5.2 m there is € 14,000 annually.

There is also a new marina which has just been delivered in Imperia. Though there will still be works for a few years to come, the marina is ready to welcome yachts. There are still berths available there as the marina opened just weeks ago.

Alternatively, you could choose to discover new, relatively unspoilt and developing destinations like the Adriatic. We can assist you in finding berths there either in Montenegro or near Trieste.

Should you wish any further free advice and information you can reach me and my colleagues on:
www.worldwidemarinasales.com
or www.inwardsmarine.com
or feel free to email us on: info@inwardsmarine.com

We will be happy to help in any way we can.

Our company specialises in berth/mooring sales & purchase and have through the years accumulated a certain expertise on ports and marinas mainly in France and Italy, but also in Spain and the Balearics, the Adriatic, and even the Caribbean.

Whether buying or selling any berths call Mr. Berth at Inwards!

Hi We have stayed in numerous marinas from Corsica to Portimao in Portugal, we had a Moody 40 sailing boat & were in the Med from 2001/4. If you select a marina we may have stayed there short term and could advise what conditions we found. Of them all we found Portugal the best for price facilities & helpfulness. Marina de Portimao we spent 12 monthhs there & were able to haggle over the price. Discounts are sometimes available for RYA members.

If you're looking for the best value Mediterranean mooring have a look at Gibraltar. There's lots of tax advantages to being based here, no VAT on fule (so 40% cheaper than Spain and France), Red Ensign, International airport with daily flights. I moved there to avoid the high Spanish boat taxes - saved a fortune and met a really good bunch of new friends. Try Ocean Village as it's the most sheltered in the region.

You could try our web site www.triangleberthbrokers.com and click berths for rent. Inspite of negative press about Greece we are witnessing more customers/friends heading east for the crusising grounds and berhing value. Our rates are the marina rates in Greece and our services are free to boatowners.

Hi, Best value we think is Greece, Portugal or some marinas on mainland Spain. For Marina Gouvia Corfu Greece we can get you an annual rental berth for €3100 + 23% VAT in this wonderful full service marina. I keep my own boat there! We can get you a great deal at £2500 for a year in Sant Carles Marina, Spain and we could check availablity and price in Marina de Portimao, Algarve. I used to keep my yacht there! HAVE A LOOK ON OUR WEB SITE www.triangleberthbrokers.com and send me an e-mail if we can help
