I think they were made in the far east and did not comply with EU regs so they stop sending them...

We have a C-KIP 46 and have been told that Grand Banks had a licence to build a certain quantity per year. Excess molds were then sold off to C-KIP and also Eurobanker to fit out. This indeed was in the far east. This is why there are only limited numbers of each model made.

Hi, I worked for sea kip in the early 80s
It was owned by the guy who dug out the Kip marina from a gravel pit in Scotland... He became a self made millionaire, started out as a milkman...
I did some of the deliveries to and from boat shows etc.

Would you know where they were sold from then? We haven't been able to get a VAT receipt for ours

I also have a C-Kip with no VAT receipt. I do however have a certificate that deems VAT to have been paid. This is an alternative way of showing VAT has been paid if visiting other states. I suggest you look on the RYA website to see if they have more details on this approach.

Did you apply for this certificate yourself or did it come with the boat?
thanks

It was with the boat when I bought it, but my understanding is that you can get one if you have evidence (e.g. mooring receipts etc) that it was in the UK at a given date (which I can't remember!)
