I would like to be trained to become a Yacht Broker - can any one help or does one just set up shop and just start selling boats?

I have a great deal of sales experiance but now need a change in my sales direction. Any Yacht Brokers or Yacht Brokerages that have any positions???

Yacht Broker - Why not ask a Yacht Broker in your area for a job and see what you can do - take a cut in your fees to gain the knowlage?

I agree, you can learn how to sell a boat with Ancasta boat dealers or boat brokers - I think that Ancasta boat sales is the biggest boat brokerage in Europe. Give them a call and see...

I'm male 33 years old and looking for a career in selling all boats. I have been in sale's all my life, And have my own fishing bait website, But have always wanted to sell boats on a commision basis or work for boat dealers. I'm looking for a career in selling boats, but not to buy a franchise. Is there any jobs going selling boats, will start from the bottom and work myself up the ladder to get product knowledge of the boats to be able to sell them to clients.

If you are wanting to be a broker, some states such as Florida require you to be a licensed yacht broker. To get this you must work as a licensed Yacht Sales person under a broker for 2 years.

Hi,

I am currently studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Bath. I'm in my second year and am looking at beginning a career in Yacht brokerage after I have gained my degree. I have tried to look at Internships etc but cannot find anything and wondered if anybody could give me any advice on what steps to take?
I am happy to move abroad to work. I am on track for a high 2.1/1st.

Hello, I would love to work as a yacht or yacht charter broker. It doesn't have to be right now as I'm studying superyacht operations but I would like to start as a yacht broker next summer. I've always been interested in yachts and property and I really enjoy office work, travelling, yacht shows... I speak German, English, French and Spanish and understand basic Italian and Portuguese. I've got an Austrian passport, grew up in Germany, studied economics in France and worked all over the world. For a nice broker job I would move pretty much anywhere without any problems. At the moment my home is a rucksack. I've been working on yachts the last year with my last yacht being a 60m charter/private M/Y.
I hope anybody has some plans to employ a friendly, female, 29-year-old broker next year and considers me for a position.

Have you considered enrolling on the distance learning Boat Retail and Brokerage Diploma recognised by the University of Portsmouth.
Modules include vessel types and technical description, registration, title, rules and regulations, boat brokers and the law, business management, organising the survey, sea trails, valuation, insurance and finance.
The 2012 course commences on the 1st October and you have 12 months to complete the 10 modules with student assignments before sitting a 3 hour open book exam.
This course will offer you a thorough understanding of the industry giving you confidence and showing commitment when applying for a position as a yacht broker.
ABYA are also offering their 3 year student membership to all Diploma students encouraging them to network with fellow brokers. Download the course brochure here
