Yacht Broker

Is there a place in the UK that one can get a qualification to become a Yacht Broker? I want to become a Yacht Broker and I feel that having a good understanding and qualifications behind me may help? Any jobs going with a Yacht Brokerage?

There is a college in Plymouth which runs courses in the marine industry, but you may need funding for this. You can also write to various brokers and hope you get lucky. However, there's more to selling a boat than being a glamour-boy waving a bit of paper. Start at the bottom and get to know the products. Work in a boatyard or a chandlery shop, or both. Try Norfolk or Burnham on Crouch. Understand the product and how it's put togther. Talk to surveyors (they are quite a friendly bunch). Read the yacht tests in the yachting press. Learn as much as you can so that you can talk to clients with confidence. Mind you, I am from the old school and retired 12 years ago, but I did sell over 600 yachts on the South Coast.
