Wooden Deck Rot

I have a problem with the deck on my SeaRay 180. There's an area over the gas tank where a portion of the deck has been cut away to make room for a piece of ply wood that goes over the tank. The edges of the deck, where it has been cut, have started to rot.

I'm worried that the wood rot will spread to the rest of the deck. I don't mind replacing the deck in the affected areas, but I don't know how to go about it. Any ideas?

If I can isolate the rot, is there away to prevent future rot?

Thanks in advance

Replacing the rotten section of deck is the best option but it's not very easy.

If the rotten area is small enough, you can use Git Rot: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001...

Git Rot is an epoxy sealer that works by soaking into the wood and hardens to give back the strength and stabilise the rotten wood.

It worked really well on my boat.
