I paint the hull of my Shetland each year with International Toplac. However I was wondering if I would be saving money by using a high quality household paint

Marine paint is designed the way it is for a reason, uv resistant and tougher than normal housepaint. Personally I dont think it would last long so best sticking with the proper stuff like Toplac or similar product.

It is true high quality enamel paints other than marine grade can perform very well in marine enviroments if the preperation is carried out well and the substrate very solid and clean. www.yachtsmartbrokerage.com
