Hauling out vs. leaving in water

Hi,
I am a new yacht owner of a 46 foot Jeanneau Prestige motor yacht. My question is this - we can store the boat in water in North Carolina, or haul the boat out for the winter where we spend time in the Cheseapeake. Any pointers on which option - blocked on land or in water - is a better choice?

That all depends on if you plan on using the boat. If you leave the boat in the water, it is more convenient if you intend on using the boat at a moments notice. For the most part, it is better to have you boat out of the water.
If you plan on leaving your boat in the water, you will need to have it bottom painted, then, once a month you will need to have a diver scrape the bottom and check the condition of the zincs. It is also recommended to have someone run the engine once a month. If your boat is under cover, you will not have to worry about the bottom or the zincs, however, your access to your boat is limited and chances are that your boat is going to be filthy when you take it out and your batteries will be dead. Either way, your boat will require some maintenance. IMHO dry dockage allows for less wear and tear on the boat if you don't mind giving it a bath and a jumo when you get ready to use it again.
