Crack in my Sea Ray's hull

I've found a crack in my 1980 Sea Ray SRV27 running along my port side chine amidships about 4 feet long and its letting in water.

The port stringer was repaired about 2 years ago.

Other than this, the boat is in great condition.

Is it worth getting it repaired (looks labour intensive) or is it time to get another boat?

If it's just a crack in the gel coat, it may not be the cause of the leak. Could be just a cosmetic issue caused by flexing of the hull. Check yor stringers and bulkheads to see if there is any structural weakness that's allowing the flexing.

The water is definitely coming from that crack. I've partially filled the boat with water to check for leaks - that was the only source.

Any semsible prospective buyer of the boat will commission a survey report. This would also be a requirement for insurance. A surveyor will notice this crack.

Get it repaired or else you will find it impossible to sell

How did the damage occur? It may be covered by the boat's insurance.
