My name is Bill Rice and for 29 years I have been formulatin g coatings that restore & protect surfaces. I have written several articles for various trade magazines. This is by way of full disclosure so no one accuses me of spamming.

I am going to ask a favor of the readers of this board and in return I'd like to give you something and the article referred to in the title is it. The article http://vivilon.com/article-017.html is strictly informative and non-promotional. If it causes you to want to know more, fine. My site has info , some of which is HIGHLY promotional and IMHO true; but, it is there only for those who want it. The article is pure information only.

OK, now for the favor I 'd like to ask of you.

My product is a clearcoating. very much like DuPont, PPG, Interlux and a dozen other quality "name" brands make. Though less toxic and easier to apply, it still requires the ability to spray.

So, assume for the moment that it is a quality product and leave that issue aside, are you more likely to buy a product that should be spray applied directly as a DIY solution OR would you want to have a local marina, boat maintenance provider or boat "detailer" do the installation of the product.

I ask because there is some debate about the "hands on" technical abilities of the boating community. I side with it not being a real issue since I can spray (and I am the most "all thumbs" guy I know) so everyone that wants to will be able to do it as well. The other side is put forth by those who think it is better all around to teach "professionals" how to do it and let them do the applications.

I would really like to get a "read" on what you all think. What say you?? Thank you very much for your time in reading this and forv the effort of respondingm, if you care to.
