ReFloating A Boat Advice needed ASAP!!
Hey
Myself and a few friends bought a small speed boat (14ft) a few weeks ago and we had it moored at a local pier. We got a call this morning to say that some bad weather had come and the boat had sunk! Upon inspection the boat is still attached to the pier at the front but the stern broke free, So it is in the water like a traffic cone. There is a 60hp Mariner engine at the bottom.

Im looking for advice on how to raise her again first of all, and also how to treat the engine when we do get her back on dry land.

Any usefull advise would be greatly appreciated and abviously the sooner the better

Thanks

If she is still tied to the pier then good otherwise you will need a couple of big floatation balls. Secure the bow so that it resists sinking then swim down to the aft and attach a line. You now need to slowly apply tension to the aft line. Her aft may be in mud and will move only slowly. But basically just haul her aft up. If you can swim down I suspect that disconnecting the outboard would make it much easier to haul her up but you may lose the OB in the process. If you are in salt water then your outboard is likely to be in a bad way. It will need to be dismantled and fully cleaned. Fresh water is a little more forgiving as the water can be evaporated away without leaving salts behind.
