Inboard Drive Train Rebuild
Yo, Greetings from the Philadelphia Area. I have a 1978 34' Silverton Sedan that I bought a couple years ago. It was repowered with Crusader 350ci/270hp inboard engines with 71c velvet drive transmissions and Walter RV20 and 26 Vee drives. The engines were put in in 1986.
I about to embark on rebuilding these components and would appreciate any helpful input. I have mechanical knowledge and have rebuilt plenty of gas car engines from the 60 and 70s.
I want to rebuild in order: the vee drives, transmissions and then the engines.
I just purchaced a rebuild kit and shop manual for the first vee drive from Walter Machine. It should arrive in a day or two.
Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any advice or trickss to keep in mind other than tto keep everything clean and orderly.
I don't think this is rocket science but would appreciate any helpful input.
Thanks in advance, Slimbob

Re: Inboard Drive Train Rebuild
OK, no takers with experience on V drives here. Sorry, I was away for a while and just now getting back to this project. As I stated in the first post, I have an RV20 and an RV26 Walter Machine V drives.
I ordered and received the rebuild kit for the RV26 from Walter Machine. It has a pretty hefty price tag for a half dozen bearings, 2 U joints and a set of gaskets.
Does anyone have a packing list for the kit for the RV20 model. I would like to source the parts locally and make my own gaskets. I understand the RV26 is the direct replacement for the RV20 but would like to know if there is any differences in the parts between them.
Help, Slimbob
