The Memory 19 is a gaff rigged sloop originally designed some 30 years ago by Tony Robinson RINA for himself and his family. He was inspired by the refined shapes and practicality of the small, shoal draft fishing smacks of Brightlingsea and so the Memory has the ability to dry out on a mooring, run up a beach or onto a trailer, making her ideal for today’s leisure sailor.

Salterns Boatbuilders have been building the Wagtail Sailing Dinghy for 12 years.....
HISTORY:
The Wagtail was moulded form an old clinker sailing dinghy, typical of the better sorts that were built locally around the Solent from the 1920s to the 1950s.
She has a tremendous hull form with a firm turn to the bilge making her stable; a high bow and good freeboard making her dry and a fine entry forward with a good flat run aft giving the hull a good potential for speed.

At Salterns, we have often been asked if we provide boats for home completion. Requests come for bare hulls which need knowledge, skill and some experience to complete, through to the wish to make the finishing touches and varnish an otherwise fully built boat.
To meet this need, we offer the Sou’wester 18, a craft based on traditional West Country Working Boat lines, which matches the rest of the Salterns’ stable of excellent performing boats with a working pedigree.

The Sou’wester is based on the sturdy little West Country Cove fishing boats that were built from the 1930s onwards; small enough to drag up the beach with a windlass, yet seaworthy enough to be a common sight working 10 miles or more off the Lizard.
Unlike many modern motorboats, which are designed for speed and are not sea-kindly, the Sou’wester’s fine lined hull is very easily driven with a 10Hp diesel (the originals often had tiny engines) and the wine glass shaped transom leaves very l

The Tela 16'6" is a beautiful craft produced by Salterns Boatbuilders Ltd. Her history: Tela was originally built in 1911 in Barry, as a day racing boat to race in local class races. The local boats were originally used by Pilots as seeking boats and they raced informally; however, by the turn of the century, the racing was the most important bit as far as we can see!
Tela raced through to the 1950s, and was discovered derelict in Cornwall around 1980, when a mould was taken from the hull. Un

To rediscover the forgotten pleasure of rowing for recreation, one needs a proper purpose designed rowing craft; something that is responsive, stable and easy to row..... such as the Hamble River Skiff.
The average 10 to 12 foot dinghy is designed more for an outboard motor than oars and will not do the job at all, being heavy to handle, difficult to propel in a straight line and plain hard work to row any distance.
The Water Rat would have approved of the Hamble River Skiff which has roots t
